Apparatus engineers have extensive experience designing, building, and operating VMware vSphere environments. We currently work with a wide array of clients ranging from small and medium-sized deployments of VMware vSphere in single-site configurations to Fortune 500 Enterprise clients running VMware vSphere distributed throughout the globe.

Design
  • Requirements gathering

Delivery
  • Create detailed installation and configuration documentation for hardware and software platforms
  • Install and configure physical hosts running VMware ESX/ESXi in a secure manner
  • Attach hosts to shared SAN storage
  • Install and configure VMware vCenter Server (including associated database/database server)
  • Integration with existing Microsoft Active Directory for authentication
  • Install and configure any applicable VMware vCenter plug-ins (such as VMware Update Manager)
  • Configure virtual networks
  • Configure any purchased VMware vSphere features (e.g. HA, DRS, Host Profiles, etc.)
  • Install and configure VMware View for VDI environment (if applicable)
  • Assist with building VM templates if needed
  • Customize VMware vCenter roles and permissions based on client requirements
  • Providing end user support and training
  • Patching ESX/ESXi using VMware Update Manager
  • Using VMware Converter for server consolidation (P2Vs)
  • Day-to-day support of overall environment (adding datastores, migrating VMs, performing hardware maintenance on hosts, adding virtual networks, etc.)
  • Creating/Deleting VMs
  • Utilizing built-in VMware vCenter alarms for monitoring the environment
  • Managing resource capacity (physical CPU, memory, disk, network, etc.)
Upgrades & Migrations
  • VMware vCenter upgrades (“update” releases as well as from previous versions)
  • VMware VI3 to vSphere 4 upgrade path
  • Physical hardware upgrades
  • Operating System upgrades (for vCenter Server)
Credentials & Experience
  • Work performed by VMware Certified Professionals on vSphere 4 (VCP4)
  • Consultants have been working with VMware products since ESX 2.0
