A mailbox that was exported as a Personal Storage File (.pst)
can be imported into an account quite easily. Complete the following steps
to import the .pst to an individual’s Outlook account, which will effectively
migrate their Exchange data:
- Open Outlook on the PC used by the
individual you are migrating.
- Go to File>Import and Export…
- Choose
Import from another program or file
and click Next.
- Choose
Personal Folder File (.pst) and
click Next.
- Browse
and locate the .pst file you would like to import, leave Replace duplicates with items imported
selected, and click Next.
- Leave
all defaults chosen/selected (i.e., Personal Folders highlighted, Include
subfolders checked, and Import items into the same folder in: Mailbox - <account name>)
and click Finish.
- Validate
that Outlook reports “All folders are up to date.” in the lower right-hand
corner of Outlook (the status bar located at the bottom of the window).
Since Cached Exchange mode is recommended and enabled in Hosted Exchange
configurations, you need to wait for a full synchronization to occur in
order to be certain you are complete.
