ActiveSync on Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphones

  1. Turn on the smartphone and enter the PIN.
  2. Click Start, Settings, and select Connections option.
  3. In the Connections panel select GPRS.
  4. Choose necessary connection item and click Menu and select Edit.
  5. Make sure that connection profile corresponds to your mobile operator providing GPRS service.
  6. Press Done and go to main menu of the smartphone.
  7. Click Start and select ActiveSync.
  8. In the ActiveSync panel click Menu, select Configure Server.
  9. Enter name of the ActiveSync front-end server exchange.apparatus.net.
  10. Enable This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection option and press Next.
  11. In the User Information panel fill the following fields:
    User name: Type your user name (this can be found by opening your control panel, https://control.apparatus.net, opening the mailbox, and locating the alias field).
    Password: Type your mailbox password.
    Domain: Type NetBIOS domain name SILVERAPP.
  12. Enable Save password option and pressNext.
  13. In the Options panel choose the data you want to synchronize with server by marking checkboxes.
  14. Press Finish.

For checking synchronization with Exchange server, in the ActiveSync panel click Sync.

RoadSync 2.0 on Symbian Smartphones

  1. Click the RoadSync icon to walk through setting up RoadSync.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Enter the following information:
    User name: Type your user name (this can be found by opening your control panel, https://control.apparatus.net, opening the mailbox, and locating the alias field).
    Password: Type your mailbox password.
    Server Name: Enter name of the ActiveSync front-end server exchange.apparatus.net.
    Domain: Type NetBIOS domain name SILVERAPP.
  4. Use SSL is enabled by default. To disable this feature, uncheck the box.
  5. Once your settings are entered click Verify Settings to ensure that you can successfully connect to the Exchange Server.
  6. A message will appear asking to allow access to your data network. Click Always Allow.
  7. You will be prompted to select an Access Point to establish an appropriate network connection. Click Connect.
  8. The next screen recommends turning off Calendar, Contacts, and E-mail portions of PC Suite while using RoadSync. This is to avoid duplication. Click Next.
  9. Choose how you would like to synchronize your data. Then click Next.
    • Outlook overwrites phone (recommended) - Contacts and Calendar information will be removed on the phone and your Outlook data will be brought down to the phone.
    • Merge data - Contacts and Calendar information on your phone will be merged with your Outlook data. This may cause duplicates.
  10. Click Yes when prompted with a warning that RoadSync will remove your handheld data or merge your data will appear, depending on your choice above.

At this time, you are ready for your first sync. Select Sync. You will see the progress of the sync as it connects, checks for new data, downloads new data, and updates the data on your wireless device. When the sync is complete, you will see a message that says "Direct Push Active" or "Last Sync" with the current date and time.

ActiveSync on Windows Mobile 2003-based Smartphones

  1. Turn on the smartphone and enter the PIN.
  2. Click Start, Settings, More and select Data Connections option.
  3. In the Data connections panel, click Menu and select Edit Connection.
  4. In the Data connections panel, check Internet connection field and make sure that connection profile corresponds to your mobile operator providing GPRS service.
  5. Press Done and go to main menu of the smartphone.
  6. Click Start and select ActiveSync.
  7. In the ActiveSync panel click Menu, select Options, Server Settings, Connection.
  8. In the Connection panel fill the following fields:
    User name: Type your user name (this can be found by opening your control panel, https://control.apparatus.net, opening the mailbox, and locating the alias field).
    Password: Type your mailbox password.
    Domain: Type NetBIOS domain name SILVERAPP.
    Server name: Enter name of the ActiveSync front-end server exchange.apparatus.net.
  9. Enable Save password option.
  10. Enable This server uses an SSL connection option.
  11. Press Done and go to main menu of ActiveSync panel.
  12. In the ActiveSync panel click Menu, select Options and select Server Settings and then Inbox.
  13. In the Inbox Server Sync panel turn on Sync Inbox with a server option.
  14. Press Done and go to main menu of ActiveSync panel.

For checking synchronization with Exchange server, in the ActiveSync panel click Sync.
