How do I configure Outlook 2007 for my Exchange account?

Apparatus Business Class Email & Calendaring can be configured using an automated profile (installs the profile automatically) or manually. Both options are described below.

Automated

  1. Open a browser and go to https://control.apparatus.net. 
  2. Click Exchange in the left navigation.
  3. Click Mailboxes in the left navigation.
  4. Click the Display Name of the account you would like to configure in the right window pane.
  5. Locate the section entitled Protocol Settings and click View setup info next to Outlook access.
  6. Follow the instructions provided to complete the process. At a high-level, the goal is to (1) run a script that modifies the registry and (2) download/run the automated profile script (installs the Outlook profile on the PC).

NOTE: In order to complete the automated profile installation for Outlook 2007, you must download the profile and manually run it from the Start>Run window. The instructions provide the necessary command.

Manual

  1. Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mail in the right window pane. If you do not see this icon, click Switch to classic view in the upper left corner of the window and it should appear.
  3. Click Show Profiles...
  4. Click Add...
  5. Type a name for the profile you are creating and click OK.
  6. Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types and click Next.
  7. Choose Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next.
  8. Complete the following:

    1. Enter pem-exback01.silverapp.local for the Microsoft Exchange Server.
    2. Select Use Cached Exchange Mode.
    3. Enter the full email address (alexsmith@domain.com) for the User Name field and click More Settings...

  9. Click OK if prompted with an error message indicating connectivity to the server failed.
  10. Click OK to close the dialog box displaying the Exchange server name and the user name.
  11. Select the Connection tab.
  12. Ensure the checkbox Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP is checked and click the Exchange Proxy Settings... button.
  13. Complete the following:

    1. Enter exchange.apparatus.net for the proxy server URL.
    2. Ensure the following are checked:
      • Connect using SSL only.
      • Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate.
      • On fast networks, connect using HTTP first...
      • On slow networks, connect using HTTP first...
    1. Choose Basic Authentication from the drop-down box.
    2. Enter msstd:exchange.apparatus.net for the Principal name for the proxy server.
    3. Click OK to complete the Exchange Proxy Settings.

  1. Click OK to close the Microsoft Exchange configuration window.
  2. Click Next, then Finish.
