Apparatus is a proud and active supporter of the Indianapolis Arts Community, annually supporting local organizations from the Indiana Repertory Theatre to the Independent Music + Art Festival at the Harrison Center for the Arts. In the renovation of our downtown office, we included a space dedicated to the creation of art. Apparatus is excited to announce Gregory Huebner, Professor of Art Emeritus, Wabash College, as our Artist-in-Residence.
Apparatus welcomes Gregory, local artist and long-standing friend of the company, to our in-house art studio. Displayed throughout the Apparatus office building, Gregory’s artwork speaks for itself; his presence reinforces the value of art in our community and in our daily lives.
About Gregory Huebner
Gregory Huebner received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Art from St. Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS. In 1973, he received his Masters of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. He served as Chair of the Art Department at Wabash College from 1974-1991, and 2002-2008, holding the rank of Professor of Art since 1990. He has had 28 solo exhibits and been featured in 84 group exhibitions, receiving several awards for his paintings. He is presently represented by the Bonfoey Gallery in Cleveland, OH, Boody Fine Art in St. Louis, MO, and Eye on Art Gallery in Carmel, IN. His work is represented in 28 public collections and over 85 private collections. He currently resides in Indianapolis.

About the "Transition" Series
As individuals, we are all in a constant state of change or transition. Some of our daily transitions are quite mundane, such as from hungry to fed, sleeping to waking, sitting to standing. However, many of our transitions are quite significant even though we are not even aware of them the moment they occur. Examples of these more profound transitions we experience are the transition from friendship to love, from spouse to father or mother, from health to illness or the reverse. Often we are conscious that a transition has occurred only after the fact. It is as if we live our lives through a rear view mirror, always trying to catch up to what has already transpired. Most importantly, transitions guarantee that life won't be smooth, but nonetheless will provide richness to how we can experience it.
When we realize one of life's transitions has occurred, we may be momentarily shocked or frozen as we try to regain our emotional balance. Likewise, in this Transition Series, I present the viewer with a frozen transitional moment. The field may be about to overtake the forms or the forms might be about to break through the field. The forms may also give the illusion of gathering together or they may be pushing further away from each other. Visually, as in life, only the next moment will reveal what transition has actually taken place.
